Program Manager, Private Sector Engagement
Dr. Nima Pahlevan serves as the Program Manager for NASA’s Earth Action’s Private Sector Engagement program at the Earth Sciences Division at Headquarters in Washington, D.C. In this role, he connects businesses with NASA Earth Science, ensuring industry awareness of NASA assets, identifying private sector needs, and fostering partnerships that catalyze joint ventures and expand technology utilization.
Dr. Pahlevan also serves as Program Scientist on Sustainable Land Imaging (SLI) where he leads the Landsat commercial transition activities and provides strategic guidance for mission requirements and implementation, while also building capacity across diverse user communities spanning public, private, and academic sectors. He serves the same capacity for the Geostationary Littoral Imaging and Monitoring Radiometer (GLIMR).
He is the program application lead for Explorer for Artemis Geology Lunar and Earth (EAGLE) as well as co-lead of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellite (CEOS) virtual constellation on Coastal Observations Applications, Services, and Tools (COAST-VC).
Earlier, Dr. Pahlevan served as a senior scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where he worked on developing algorithms and capabilities, establishing calibration/validation techniques, and engaging with stakeholders to generate seamless user-relevant aquatic products to enable studying and monitoring inland and nearshore coastal waters.
Previously, as a program manager and chief research scientist for Science Systems and Applications, Inc, Dr. Pahlevan was part of the Landsat, PACE, and EMIT science teams. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Massachusetts,
Dr. Pahlevan earned a Bachelor’s in Surveying Engineering and a Master’s in Remote Sensing from K.N. Toosi University of Technology in Tehran, Iran and a Ph.D. in Imaging Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y.
