The Hospital Authority (HA) has dismissed a resident doctor at Tuen Mun Hospital for conducting an unauthorised medical examination on a patient.
In a statement on Monday, the HA said the incident took place at Ruttonjee Hospital.
The case is connected to an intern doctor who was recently terminated for serious misconduct, including using another person’s login credentials to browse patient records without permission and taking an unauthorised X-ray of her own knee.
According to the HA’s investigation committee, the resident doctor acted dishonestly and committed a serious breach of professional ethics and integrity.
The matter has been referred to the Medical Council of Hong Kong for further follow-up.
The HA stressed its zero-tolerance stance towards any behaviour that undermines the professional conduct of doctors.
It also made clear that it would not permit any doctor who fails to meet the required standards to practice in public hospitals, reaffirming its commitment to upholding professional ethics and safeguarding patient safety.
