John Haynes
Program Manager, NASA Health and Air Quality Applications Program and the Multisource Integrated Observatory
John Haynes serves as Program Manager for Health and Air Quality Applications and the Multisource Integrated Observatory in the NASA Earth Action Program in the Earth Science Division at Headquarters in Washington, DC.
On Health and Air Quality, Mr. Haynes oversees a diverse portfolio dedicated to using Earth observations to support air quality management and public health decision-making, enabling policymakers, practitioners, and communities to reduce health risks and improve responses to air pollution and infectious diseases.
On the Multisource Integrated Observatory, Mr. Haynes advances collaborative approaches that combine Earth observations, innovative technologies, and scientific expertise to generate actionable insights and accelerate real-world applications.
Mr. Haynes also serves as the Program Applications Lead for the TEMPO, STRIVE, and MAIA satellite missions.
Mr. Haynes entered NASA Headquarters in 2002 through the Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF) program. As required by the PMF program, he completed two detail assignments during the fellowship, with NOAA and the U.S. House of Representatives. Upon graduation from the PMF program in August 2004, Mr. Haynes converted to a civil service management position at NASA Headquarters.
Mr. Haynes graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1999 with a B.S. in Meteorology. In 2002, he graduated with an M.S. in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma.
During his tenure at NASA, Mr. Haynes has received several awards. These include a NASA Aviation Safety and Security Program Award, multiple NASA Group Achievement Awards, a One NASA Award, a Team Excellence Award, and the 2020 NASA Exceptional Service Medal. Mr. Haynes has also been honored by his alma mater, the University of South Alabama, as an Exceptional Alumnus of the School of Meteorology.
