As the smoke clears, the Fontainebleau forest takes stock of its destruction

Approaching 2,000 hectares of the iconic and fragile Fontainebleau forest have burned out with around 950 firefighters supported by aerial teams still continuing to battle the flames.

While the fire has been contained, it has yet to be extinguished four days after it broke out.
