Aadhaar app tops 3.1 crore downloads

New Delhi: The new mobile application of Aadhaar has crossed 31 million (3.1 crore) downloads within five months of its launch, an official statement said on Monday.Almost 4 million users have updated their mobile numbers through the new Aadhaar App and around 8.5 lakh people have used it to update their address.Also Read: SC seeks ECI, Centre responses on plea against Aadhaar use beyond identity proof"The Aadhaar App is witnessing a robust acceptance among people across India with over 31 million downloads since it was launched less than 5 months back.

The growing adoption reflects increasing resident confidence in the App for bringing services at their fingertips," Aadhaar custodian The Unique Identification Authority of India said in a statement.The new Aadhaar App enables various services, including update of mobile number and address directly from the smart phones.It also features sharing contact details digitally using an inbuilt QR which does away with the need of carrying visiting cards.Also Read: Assam tightens Aadhaar card rules to curb infiltration"The app has several pro-people features, including biometric lock/unlock in a single click, face verification for proof of presence, authentication history, and a QR-based editable contact card for easy sharing of contact instead of physical visiting cards.It also allows the download of e-Aadhaar and facilitates easy appointment booking online for visiting Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) among others," the statement said.The new App also enables hotel check-ins through Offline Verification Seeking Entity's (OVSE) QR code scanning without need for submitting physical Aadhar copy."It (new app) facilitates hospital admissions, visitor management, event entries, identity verification of gig workers and service partners among many such use cases," the statement said. ...
