Newsom hires high-profile defense lawyer to help with federal inquiry into him and his wife

Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has hired veteran Washington defense lawyer Abbe Lowell as federal investigators examine people and matters in the governor’s orbit, according to a new report.

Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, hired Lowell in their personal capacities, according to people familiar with the decision, Politico reported.
