Brownouts loom in Visayas amid thin power supply

MANILA, Philippines — Households and businesses in the Visayas may experience power interruptions on Friday, as four large coal plants remain unavailable despite rising electricity demand.

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Visayas under red alert anew on Friday, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
