Iran and Oman have exchanged proposals to manage the Strait of Hormuz, with Oman offering a joint management plan that includes voluntary fees for shipping. Iran has rejected the proposal, warning that the strait will remain closed if Oman does not accept its terms and that frozen assets cannot be used to pass through.
Washington launched fresh strikes earlier this month to break Iran's grip on the strait, through which about a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas flowed before the war.
