The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) said a tropical cyclone east of the Philippines is gradually intensifying and is expected to enter within 800 kilometers of the SAR tonight, prompting the issuance of Typhoon Signal No. 1. The system is forecast to move toward the eastern Guangdong coast on Saturday, but its track and intensity remain uncertain. The bureau warned of extreme heat, thunderstorms and strong gusts from today to tomorrow.
