News18 (India)

Author A.
Ranganathan has strongly criticised India's ethanol-blending programme, arguing that using surplus maize and broken rice for ethanol production is environmentally unsustainable.Speaking on the issue, Ranganathan said that while ethanol is not being produced solely from sugarcane, diverting food crops such as broken rice and maize for fuel is "criminal." He also claimed that producing one litre of ethanol from rice requires around 11,000 litres of water, warning that the practice could have serious implications for India's water resources and food security. n18oc_india News18 Mobile App - https://onelink.to/desc-youtube ...
