Pangilinan seeks Senate inquiry into gov’t readiness for El Niño

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan seeks inquiry into the government’s preparations in protecting the agriculture sector and ensuring the country’s food supply ahead of El Niño, which is forecast to worsen and persist until the first quarter of next year. Earlier this week, Sen. Pangilinan filed Senate Resolution No. 515 directing the agriculture committee, which he chairs, to determine whether the budgets and contingency plans of key government agencies were enough and ready for the potential Super El Niño.
