Man with schizophrenia given 18 yrs for killing mother

A South Korean court on Wednesday sentenced a man to 18 years in prison for killing his mother after telling investigators he believed God would revive her.

The Cheongju District Court convicted the man, who is in his 30s, of killing a lineal ascendant and ordered him to be placed under probationary supervision for five years after his release.

The court said his schizophrenia appeared to have affected the crime.
