MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine peso extended its decline on Friday to a record low as a stronger US dollar, surging oil prices and renewed global trade tensions drove investors toward safer assets. The currency closed at 61.847 per dollar, weakening 9.7 centavos from its previous record-low finish of 61.75. It touched an intraday low of 61.85 before recovering slightly.
