HKO to issue T8 signal at 10.10 pm

The Observatory says it will issue the Gale or Storm Signal, No. 8 at 10.10 pm tonight.

Under the influence of the rainbands of Typhoon Noul, there will be frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms over the territory tonight and tomorrow.

According to the present forecast track, Noul is still expected to make landfall somewhere between Huizhou and Shanwei on Sunday morning, when it will skirt around 100 kilometres north-east of Hong Kong.

The Drainage Services Department said it's carried out preventive measures in areas that are at risk of severe flooding, while the Home Affairs Department said it's activated its emergency hotline.

Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not engage in water sports.
