More people infected with TBE virus in Sweden

The number of people contracting tick-borne encephalitis, or TBE, from tick bites is continuing to increase in Sweden.

So far this year, 213 people have been infected, compared to 111 in 2024 and 138 in 2025 during the same time period.

Sweden's public health agency says climate change is behind the increase, with warmer weather meaning earlier springs, which is good for the ticks, and people are also out and about in the countryside more. ...
