On the night of September 26, 2022, explosions ruptured three of the four pipelines that make up the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline systems in the Baltic Sea, near the Danish island of Bornholm.

German investigators pursued theories ranging from a Russian provocation to the involvement of Western intelligence services.
