Saudi Aramco closes Jazan refinery after Houthi attack
Saudi Aramco halted operations at its Jazan refinery on July 27 after a Houthi attack damaged the facility, the Reuters news agency reported.
The refinery can process 400,000 barrels of oil per day.
Reuters, citing a memo from consultancy IR, said the attack damaged the refinery’s integrated gasification combined-cycle complex and an oil storage area. Aramco plans to complete repairs and begin restarting operations by August 15.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said on Saturday that the group had struck Saudi Aramco facilities in Jazan and Yanbu, widening a regional war that has disrupted global energy supplies.
